Introduction

Key features and capabilities of Automation Accounts include:

  1. Runbooks:
    • Automation Accounts allow you to create and manage runbooks, which are sets of scripts (PowerShell, Python, or graphical) that automate tasks such as provisioning resources, managing configurations, executing commands, and orchestrating workflows.
  2. Scheduling:
    • You can schedule runbooks to run at specific times or intervals, enabling automated execution of tasks on a recurring basis without manual intervention.
  3. Integration Modules:
    • Automation Accounts provide integration with various Azure services and external systems through integration modules.
    • These modules extend the capabilities of runbooks by providing pre-built functions and commands for interacting with Azure resources, APIs, and third-party services.
  4. Hybrid Runbook Workers:

Update Management

  • It is a feature within Automation Accounts that automates the task of applying operating system and software updates to ensure that your systems are up to date, secure, and compliant with security policies.
  • Update Management can manage updates and patches for Windows and Linux VMs regardless of the Azure region or location (cloud or on-premise).
